Today My Heart is Blue
           (Preview)

This is a project about blindness and the ambiguity of vision. I started by asking myself the question “What does a blind person dream about?”, thinking about people who were born blind and have never seen the faces of whom they love and the world they live in. Blind people experience the world through emotions and their senses - touch, smell and sound. I understood that being able to see the world does not necessarily mean being able to comprehend it. Therefore, I decided to photograph many elements that are not completely decipherable and remain uncertain even to us who are able to see. Most of the photographs in the project focus on textures and go beyond what is depicted, meaning that they encode an emotion and a feeling more than a representation of the world. Next to some images you will see tactile images in braille and sentences in braille. The latter are actual tangible, physical objects of my project. I printed them with the help of the Institute for the Blind “ Istituto Sant Alessio” in Rome, as well as Germano Carella, a blind man who inspired many aspects of the story. Thanks to him I discovered the existence of tactile images and I was able to understand more about his world.
